Thb following sweet old Scottish song was a great favorite in this country in earlj days. The words were written by Richard Hewit, a native of Cumberland, England. He was employed as an amanuensis by Dr. Thomas Blacklock, the blind poet, who was the first to encourage Robert Burns, and later he became secretary to Lord Wilton. He died in 1764. |
